What is the cause of diabetes?

Diabetes primarily relates to issues with insulin management, making poor insulin management the correct answer. The body’s ability to produce and utilize insulin effectively is crucial in regulating blood sugar levels. In type 1 diabetes, the pancreas produces little or no insulin due to autoimmune destruction of the insulin-producing cells. In type 2 diabetes, the body becomes resistant to insulin, or the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to maintain normal glucose levels.

While poor dietary choices can contribute to the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and can affect blood sugar control in those who already have diabetes, they are not the direct cause of the disease itself. Insufficient blood flow and excessive cholesterol production are not primary factors in the onset of diabetes, making them less relevant in this context. Understanding the central role of insulin in glucose metabolism is essential for recognizing the underlying mechanisms of diabetes.
